Birthday Bunny!

Just a quick post to show you a bunny my lovely hubs bought me for my Birthday a couple of weeks ago.  Isn't he smart...I had quite a shock when he came out of this huge box.....I was not expecting that!!  My hubby knows I am mad about decorating the house for the seasons, so when he saw this bunny needed a home he couldn't resist!  Now I have him I don't have the heart to put him away in the loft, we thought if we keep him out all year we can put away the carrots and fill his basket with Halloween goodies and then pop a Santa hat on him!!  Silly aren't I, but that's me :0)
I'm thinking of calling him Thumper...what do you think?

What I've been up to!

Hello everyone!
After 4 hectic months, I finally have an update for you!  So sorry for not posting since Christmas, everything has been rather busy, yet very exciting!

First of all, I'd like to say happy Spring! The weather here in Devon is noticeably improving (apart from the odd spot of rain!) and it's lovely that the weather is getting that little bit warmer.

Here are some little previews of what I've been up to...
For New Year, I went to New York with my husband and daughter. I have to say it was without a doubt the most amazing experience of my life! We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days and loved every single minute of it!

My daughter and I stood by the Wollman ice rink in Central Park; one of my highlights of the trip!

Next up, here is our kitchen update.  Hopefully you will prefer how it looks 4 months on!
We are so pleased with how the kitchen is looking, a real transformation! It is not 100% complete as we still have a few little bits to finish, like painting cupboards etc.

(I will be writing some further blog posts about these in more detail!)

Finally, thought I'd show you my Easter decorations for this Spring.  It is such a lovely time of year and I have collected loads of lovely Easter deccies over the years!

My fabric chicken came out for the second year running!

Hope you have enjoyed reading this quick update and I'll be back with more posts soon.

Merry Christmas from our new kitchen!

Merry Christmas everyone! Wishing you all lots of love, health and happiness and hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Thought I would do a quick Christmassy update to show the progress we have made over the last 10 days since my last post.  It's been really manic here, but we finally have heating and all the workmen have gone out of their way to put us in as good a place as possible over the holiday.  We still have a long way to go but it feels like a palace to me at the moment and I am so happy, this is the best Christmas present.   Peaceful times now until chaos resumes on the 7th Jan!

Merry Christmas and love and hugs from me to you :0) xx

We're through!!

Yay, I can see the other side of the kitchen for the first time ever from this angle!! very exciting.  These following photos show the progress made over the last few days.  Below props are still in and one steel beam up.  You can see a little bit of wall needing to come down at this point
View from the side, where the wall was
Looking from the other end of the room

Steel number two on the floor needs to go up
Please excuse dust on the lens, real progress here, all props gone, steels up and whole wall gone, this is the space the room will be.  We are redoing the end where the sink is too, it has always bugged my hubby that the sink was not centered under the window so will look forward to changing that.
Below this is the kitchen today 13th Dec, builders are in the process of levelling the floor, I guess the Victorians were not too worried about the levels as some parts of the floor are about 3 or 4 inches higher than others!  Only thing for it is too dig it up, so here goes.....

Electrician has started laying the cables everywhere.  The ceiling should be up next week which will make a massive difference.
Thank you so much for continuing on this journey with me, it really helps and gives me a boost reading your lovely comments.

Quick update on kitchen.....

Morning lovely friends, hope you don't mind me blogging my way through my kitchen refurb and showing you some more photos of the work in progress!
This used to be a bedroom! hopefully it will be again one day...you can see down into the kitchen, I have to tip toe very carefully across this room at the moment
Standing in the kitchen looking up the fireplace in the above picture
Wall is coming down, the builders have been great and so careful to explain what is going on so that I don't go into shock! :0)
The steel beams have arrived this morning so things are turning a corner.
Better go and put the kettle on and do another tea round!

No going back now!....

We must be mad to invite so much mess into our home at this time of year!  We have decided to take the plunge and knock down a thick wall that is between our kitchen and breakfast room
Please excuse the state of the floor this is under flooring, the real floor was ripped out a while back.  The idea is to knock down the wall at the end of the table the wall with the "peep hole" so to speak.  It is a very thick wall that is part of the chimney breast so will need careful dismantling!
I do like the look of the room as it is, I find it very cosy but feel that the room will be much more user friendly as one big space.

There is a Ray Burn cooker the other side of this wall which will sadly have to go
This is the wall, you can see the Ray Burn flue to the left of the hole.
This is the other side of the wall, the kitchen side.  Cupboards down to access pipework as we are having new central heating just for good measure!  You can see how thick the wall is, just a big block in the centre of the room.
Bye bye lovely Ray burn and good riddance to horrible tiles! :0)
Back in the breakfast room side, the builders made a start on Friday, they are replacing the whole ceiling and floor. This is part one of the ceiling being ripped down in order to get the props in.
You can peek up into a bedroom!
This is how it has been left over the weekend.  Plumbers and builders in tomorrow and this wall should be nearly gone by the end of the day.  Really looking forward to the change, I know it will all come together and I will keep you posted.  Perhaps I should put some Christmas-sy tinsel around those poles!

Thanks for sharing my chaos with me :0)
